Drone Filming in Mauritius
Mauritius is the home base of Identical Media and our ARRI-certified equipment rental company MediaVision. With the strongest crew presence and equipment availability of any Indian Ocean location, Mauritius is the most production-ready destination for aerial filming in the region.
Our drone pilots are registered with the Mauritius Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and hold operating authorisations issued under the Civil Aviation (Unmanned Aircraft System) Regulations 2024 and the MCAR-UAS. All flights are coordinated with the Mauritius civil aviation authority and, where required, with Air Traffic Control to ensure full compliance.

Drone Filming in Seychelles
The Seychelles archipelago, 115 islands scattered across the Indian Ocean, is one of the most photogenic aerial filming destinations on earth. Known for its signature granite boulder beaches, turquoise waters, and lush jungle interiors, Seychelles delivers iconic imagery that no other location can replicate.
Identical Media operates in Seychelles with experienced local crew and fixers. Drones must be registered with the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), and foreign operators require additional approval from the Department of Information & Communication Technology (DICT). We handle all permits and logistics for your production.

Drone Filming in Madagascar
Madagascar is unlike anywhere else on earth. From razor-sharp limestone formations to ancient baobab forests and untouched coastline, the island offers landscapes that cannot be found on any other continent. For aerial filming, Madagascar delivers a visual vocabulary that is immediately recognisable and endlessly cinematic.
Commercial drone operations require permission from Aviation Civile de Madagascar (ACM). Regulations were tightened in 2025, and penalties for unlicensed operations are severe. Identical Media coordinates all drone permits, national filming authorisations, and park access through our local production team in Madagascar.
Iconic Aerial Locations in Madagascar
- Avenue of the Baobabs, Morondava, Ancient baobab trees lining a dusty road, casting long golden-hour shadows. One of Africa’s most iconic images, and spectacular from the air.
- Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, UNESCO World Heritage Site. A forest of razor-sharp limestone pinnacles stretching across 1,520 km², an otherworldly aerial landscape.

- Ifaty & Reniala Baobab Forest, Southwest coast with a 60-mile coral reef system and scattered baobab silhouettes across arid golden landscapes.
Drone Filming in Réunion
Réunion packs extraordinary topographic drama into a small island. An active volcano, three vast mountain cirques, towering waterfalls, and a coastline that drops from 3,000-metre peaks to black sand beaches, all within a single day’s drive. For aerial cinematography, the verticality and scale of Réunion’s landscape is exceptional in the Indian Ocean.
As a French overseas territory, Réunion falls under DGAC (Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile) regulations, the strictest of all five countries we operate in. Drone pilots must hold French/EU certification and register on the AlphaTango portal. Certain protected zones have flight restrictions. Identical Media works with locally certified pilots who know the airspace and the terrain.
Iconic Aerial Locations in Réunion
- Piton de la Fournaise, One of the world’s most active volcanoes. The lunar crater landscape is extraordinary from the air, and during eruptions, lava fountain footage is among the most dramatic aerial material anywhere.
- Cirque de Mafate, The most remote and visually striking of the three cirques. Accessible only by helicopter or on foot, creating pristine, untouched aerial compositions.
- Cirque de Cilaos, Steep mountain walls and the legendary serpentine road. Dramatic switchbacks and deep valley shots.
- Cirque de Salazie, The lushest of the three cirques, with mist-shrouded peaks and verdant cliffs. Moody, atmospheric aerial footage.
- Cascade Niagara, Sainte-Suzanne, 55-metre waterfall with powerful flow, a frequently filmed aerial subject.
- Cascades de Takamaka, Multi-tiered waterfalls cascading through lush eastern cliffs along the Marsouins River.

Drone Filming in Maldives
The Maldives, 1,192 islands spread across 26 atolls, is the definition of tropical aerial cinematography. Turquoise lagoons, white sandbanks, overwater villas, and coral reef patterns visible from altitude create the kind of imagery that defines luxury, travel, and resort advertising worldwide.
Drone operations in the Maldives require approval from both the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the National Defence Force (MNDF). Applications must be submitted 3-4 weeks before the shoot. Individual resorts may have additional drone policies. Identical Media handles all permit coordination, from MNDF clearance to resort liaison.
Iconic Aerial Locations in Maldives
- Baa Atoll, UNESCO Biosphere Reserve with dramatic reef patterns and Hanifaru Bay, where up to 200 manta rays gather during feeding season (May-November), visible from the air.
- North & South Malé Atoll, The most resort-dense atolls, featuring iconic overwater villa complexes and pristine lagoons.
- Raa Atoll, Pristine turquoise lagoons with varied island topography and secluded sandbanks.

- Sandbanks & uninhabited islands, Isolated white sand formations surrounded by turquoise water, the signature Maldives aerial shot, available across multiple atolls.
- Overwater villa resorts, Geometric villa layouts over crystal-clear lagoons create striking architectural aerials. Iconic resorts include Soneva Jani, Gili Lankanfushi, and Conrad Rangali Island.
- Reef edges & lagoon gradients, The transition from shallow turquoise to deep navy blue along reef edges creates dramatic colour banding visible only from drone altitude.
