About Andreas Habermeyer
Career & Training
With 46 years of experience in the film and photography industry, Andreas Habermeyer has built a career spanning continents and disciplines. Born in Germany, he began his professional journey in 1980 and went on to work alongside renowned photographers including Mario Testino and David LaChapelle, experiences that shaped his commitment to technical excellence and visual storytelling.
His career has taken him across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, working on productions ranging from feature films and television series to high-end commercials and documentaries.
Identical Media & the Indian Ocean
Andreas founded Identical Media as a leading service production company based in Mauritius, providing crew, logistics, locations, and full production support to international production companies filming across the Indian Ocean region, including Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar, Réunion, and the Maldives.
Identical Media holds Netflix Preferred Partner and P&G Preferred Partner status, reflecting the company’s consistent delivery of world-class production services. From feature films and episodic television to global advertising campaigns, the company supports every stage of production on the ground.
Alongside Identical Media, Andreas also operates MediaVision, a professional film equipment rental company and the region’s only ARRI Certified and Sony Pro Partner rental house. MediaVision offers a full range of cinema equipment from brands including ARRI, Sony, Ronford, O’Connor, Panther, and Profoto, providing productions with access to professional gear without the cost and complexity of international freight.

Over the course of his career, Andreas has contributed to productions recognised with 35+ international awards, including work associated with an Academy Award nomination. His credits span more than 1,000 commercials and collaborations with major studios and brands including Disney, Netflix, Amazon, Paramount, BBC, National Geographic, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Coca-Cola, and many others.
Andreas serves as an active voice in the development of the Indian Ocean as a filming destination, working closely with local film commissions and government bodies to strengthen the region’s infrastructure and incentive frameworks.

Since relocating to Mauritius in 2009, Andreas has played a pivotal role in establishing the island as a world-class filming destination. In 2016, he brought the first major Hollywood production to Mauritius, Serenity, a $25 million feature starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Djimon Hounsou, Diane Lane, and Jason Clarke.
He went on to service produce the first Netflix America movie shot in Mauritius, Resort to Love (2021), followed by the first European/Spanish production, Honeymoon with My Mother (2021), and the first Netflix India production, The Archies (2022).
Mauritius offers international productions a compelling financial advantage through its Film Rebate Scheme, with qualifying productions eligible for up to 40% back on local spend.
