Mauritius stacks two film incentives on the same production.
The Cash Film Rebate, administered by the Economic Development Board (EDB), pays the international production up to 40% cash on qualifying production expenditure (QPE). The 40% band is for feature films (minimum USD 1 million QPE) and high-end TV drama (minimum USD 150,000 per episode). The standard cash tier is 30% for other eligible formats, including TVCs.
The Tax Film Rebate, administered by the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA), lets eligible Mauritian companies invest in a cash-rebate-approved feature or TV series and claim a 200% tax deduction on that investment. It is this tax rebate that requires at least 90% of principal photography to take place in Mauritius.
Together: cash back for the international production, and a tax reason for local companies to put money into a good film. You can finance it here.
